There's a nice piece in today's Washington Square News (not on their websie, frustratingly,) by an undergrad urging other undergrads to support GSOC. It's nice to read. I kind of want to talk to the undergads about their strategy and goals, and get a sense of what they do differently than folks in new Haven and how their stuff works here. The conventional wisdom about NYU activism is that the ISO just controls everything and does very little. I'm curious aboutthe Grad-UnderGrad-Solidarity people's links to the financial aid/anti-tuition hike people. It seems like there's potentially a very powerful campaign around teaching and financial aid lurking somewhere. I'm glad that there are undergraduates organizing around this/us. That's always a good sign. And speaking of which.

Beinecke Director Frank Turner denied any such exchange has
taken place."There's no controversy there," Turner said.

"It's their property, and we have no problem with
that."
George Miles, Beinecke's curator of western Americana, also
said his office had not discussed a renegotiation of ownership before Pequot
filed its court application.

He said the University learned of the Pequot grievance from
items in the local press.

But Pequot trustees tell a different story. Christopher Rosow,
president of Pequot's board of trustees, said Miles spoke with trustees in 2003
and he asserted that Yale should be granted full legal custody of the
collection.
