i finished my first book of grad school tonight - Steven Hahn's A Nation Under Our Feet. Feels good to know i can still read. Or something. It's an interesting book. Occasionally brilliant, occasionally frustrating. I feel like I say that about every book on this blog. Apologies. Particularly interesting is Hahn's look at the racial politics of the Populist movement in the 1880s-90s.
Next book up is Andrew Ross and Kristin Ross, ed., Anti-Americanism, for the core seminar, which is a collection of papers from an NYU conference held in February 2003. The contributors are mostly, if not all, NYU faculty and include people I haven't met but have read and whose work I am intrigued by. Should be interesting.
