Michael Berube questions the teleological narrative of Paul Westerberg's career - but, i think, discounts the brilliance of Sorry Ma and Hootenanny. If you've been reading this blog muc, or listening to me babble in person, you have probably figured out that i've been obsessed with The Replacements for a while now, so i felt obligated to link to Berube's post even if i think that many who call the band "The Mats," including a comment poster on Berube's site, might argue against his elision of the band's early work.
