Feeling shiftless, bored, and lonely. Wishing i'd left New Haven after the CCNE conference (glad that we found josh though.) Now that i'm done i don't know what to do with myself and i guess i'm procrastinating a liottle on the whole job front. I re-met some people today (at several different moments) who i'm glad i talked to again, so that was good. And the conference itself (barring the keynote speaker's off message didactic colonialsm of the social space of african american youth movements and the white guy in our workshop who wouldn't stop lecturing my mostly black and mostly female fellow workshop participants on issues barely related to what we had been discussing and who seems to have not noticed the pre4sence of a facilitator or said facilitator's desire to hear other voices) was great.

I'm really tired, and i went to sleep late last night after the atrocious movie and woke up early this morning for the conference. (DO NOT SEE TROY. IT IS FUCKING ABYSSMAL. TIMEO CRAPPY MOVIES CENTERED AROUND RAPE FANTASIES ET BRAD PITT et ORLANDO BLOOM FERENTES. And just to drop a little more knowledge on your ass:,

mênin aeide thea Pêlêïadeô* Achilêos

oulomenên*, hê muri' Achaiois alge' ethêke,

pollas d' iphthimous psuchas Aïdi* proïapsen

hêrôôn, autous de helôria teuche kunessin

oiônoisi te pasi*+, Dios d' eteleieto boulê,

ex hou* dê ta prôta diastêtên erisante

Atreïdês te anax andrôn kai dios Achilleus.)

and while i'm reliving my vanished former life as a classics scholar, why not complete the worst movie ever made for ridiculous amounts of money's font of distorted inspiration with some lines from P. Virgilius Maro's Aeneid (and a shout out to Barbara Ellis):

Facilis descensus Averno:

Noctes atque dies patet atri ianua Ditis;

Sed revocare gradum superasque evadere ad auras,

Hoc opus, hic labor est.

and i with that, i revoco my grada placidasque ad auras casae meae.
