Last week, workers at four San Fransisco hotels walked out in what unite-here local 2 president Mike Casey called a measured, moderate two-week strike. In response, the San Francisco Multi-Employer Group locked out ten other hotels. Yesterday, the Multi-Employer Group confirmed that they would lock out Local 2 members at the four struck hotels should they attempt to return to work following the conclusion of the two-week job action, and would continue indefinitely to lock out the other ten hotels as well in a brazen attempt to dictate to workers the terms of their working conditions, health care, and contract language. Local 2 Members - like local 11 members, and Local 25 members, and members of Local 1, Local 6, Local 217, Local 26, Local 2850, Local 7, Local 8, Local 5, Local 30, 226/The Culinary, and Local 54, aren't going to let the corporate behemoth that is the hospitality industry consolidate power in the ands of an unimaginably wealthy few at the expense of the thousands of workers whose labor creates that wealth.
