NBC said Wednesday it has cut a deal with "Speed" screenwriter

Graham Yost to develop a limited series exploring the circumstances surrounding

the attacks that claimed nearly 3,000 lives and spurred the United States to

mount a global war on terrorism.

Speed? As in, like "Pop quiz, hotshot?" As in, like, terrible and ridiculous action movie starring fucking Ted "Theodore" Logan? This is almost as egregiously exploitative as the Republican National Convention. Oh wait, scratch that, actually, it doesn't begin to come close. But it's still pretty damn ridiculous. Kinda like the HBO special that tied the millionaire Yankees to the post-catastrophic iconography of New York working-class heroism. I hated Giulianiism in high school, and i hate it even more today.
