speaking of two-tone

Nouvelle Vague's cover of "Friday Night, Saturday Morning," a Specials original i never really quite understood in high school, but now, upon hearing it in my present context, find somewhat powerful - far more so that the first album's "Nite Klub," certainly - is pretty terriffic. I don't really like their take on "Love Will Tear Us Apart" or their watering-down of "Guns Of Brixton," but the detatched, spacy vocals work almost as well as Terry Hall's dispassionate , sneering, self-loathing and stark imagery.
