(It's the new "Weapons of Class Instruction," people!)
Extell and its allies have tried to silence critics in several ways - ripping down many of the things people have posted on the wooden boards, and postering over stuff with movie ads, includling the aforementioned ironic rob schneider poster. They also put up somne of their own propaganda last week, which tried to make the case that the towers did a service to the neighborhood by providing housing for people searchging desparately for "affordable" condominia in the $700,000 to $1 million dollar range. I shit you not. They actually had the gall to put that up a block away from public housing. I recognize that the real estate market on the upper west side is insane, but don't try to claim that you're providing a public service by putting up two massive yuppie condo complexes where every apartment costs like a million bucks in a neighborhood of prewar low-rise apartments and a large cluster of housing projects. That's just insulting.
