At Ari Berman's blog at The Nation, a pretty interesting, if entirely unsurprising given Giuliani's project and actions as mayor of this city for eight years, post about Giuliani's lucrative career as a shill for pharmaceutical corporations bent on denying access to generic versions of corporate medicines (often researched at universities by casualized scientists with no control over the patenting and lisencing of the cures and treatments they help create -- Anylan center redux) to people in the global South or the so-called "developing countries." The mayor who built his career on racilized police violence and gentrification-by-gunpoint-and/or-tank-cannon is raking in the millions by continuing to nurture his rewarding relationships with scandal-plagued plutocrats and providing a model for folks like Rick Levin and Joe Zaccagnino to gape at in mute awe.
(Hesistate to point out as well the links between several ONHSA employees and the Giuliani administration, but i won't, because that's not really what this post is about. This, ladies and gentlemen, is what we call praeteritio. Cicero, fascist that he was, was the master at it. But hey, as i asked in 11th grade, Quo usque tandem abutere Giuliani, patientia nostra?)
