Judge Guzman also said that a controversial interview General
Pinochet gave in November 2003 to a Spanish-language television network in the
United States was "one of the elements I took into consideration to make this
decision." In that broadcast, General Pinochet appeared both lucid and defiant,
arguing that "everything I did, I would do again, everything was thought
through."
"Who am I supposed to ask for forgiveness?" General
Pinochet also said in response to one of the television interviewer's questions.
"They are the ones who have to ask me for forgiveness, the
Marxists."
