Pixies entry still to come, I just want to say that the new Go-Betweens album, Oceans Apart, really is as good as everyone's saying. It's at least on par with 16 Lovers' Lane, and i'm enjoying it quite a bit. Even if the "why do people who read dostoevsky look like dostoevsky" line overreaches a bit. Anyway, it's a really good record and everyone should hear it.

This may use the language of anarchist neourbanism, but there's also an undercurrent of city-as-police-state-amusement park which doesn't seem that far away from Giulianist Neoliberalism. That said, it could also be fun, and may be more subversive than I'm giving it credit for, but then again, isn't this the kind of shit that makes the yuppies willing to pay $3000 a month for a Williamsburg apt.?
