We chose to act in a moderate responsible way. Now, the EC hotels have decided to lock out the workers in four properties effective 5 am on Saturday June 11, 2005: a move that's not just bad for our workers who will lose their paychecks but also for the city of Los Angeles. Just ask our brothers and sisters in San Francisco. Their tourism and convention business has still not recovered from the hotels' decision to lock out the workers late last year.
But the good news is the EC still has time to do the right thing. They can restore our workers' health fund; repay the families for their co-pays and medical debts; and let our workers come to work and provide the outstanding service to which visitors to Los Angeles have become accustomed.
