this happened literally right across the street from the old (new) Moon storefront, at 84 East 10th street.
(as opposed to the old old storefront on 2nd between B and C.)
That the block is now coded as a yuppie haven, just seven years after we'd find human feces on the doorstep whenever we opened the store on saturday, when our nearest neighbors were a barber school and a junk shop rather than expensive restaurants and "young professional" apartment buildings, is a disarming reminder of how rapid and total the changes to the east village's social geogrpahy have been in the last two decades.
