Steve Greenhouse's article in today's times is informative and disturbing. There is a danger that the sensationalist manner in which Greenhouse deals with lock-ins obscures larger issues of immigrant workers' legal status and power on the job, but i think Greenhouse is good about looking at some of the structural issues at work here and (possibly because the Fifth Avenue folks already have) making some important connections.
