NYT: NYU "Makes the Town-Gown Relationship almost toxic"

Since many residents are either current or former faculty and have a connection to N.Y.U., few are willing to speak negatively about the university for fear of losing their apartments. But in private they are plenty mad, and the environmental mishap, one top of outrage over the university’s expansion plans, makes the town-gown relationship almost toxic. Said one long time resident of the Mews: “This appears to some to be another example of the wide gait with which N.Y.U. strides over Greenwich Village. Some villagers are already up in arms over N.Y.U.’s over-saturation of their neighborhood.”
