Over in Berkeley, California, comes word that an agreement has been reached to end the long boycott of the Claremont resort by Unite HERE Local 2850. Congratulations to the workers and their union who won this important victory!

The new contract has already taken effect and extends through July 31, 2009. Terms include wage and benefit increases for union members during the 31/2-year contract period. At the end of that time, the increases will "bring overall salaries to a level comparable to the union standard in the Bay Area," Huber said.
